SUCCESS STORIES

Some of our students have graciously offered to talk about our program to others who are considering joining us. If you would like to talk to, or email, someone who has been through our program send us an email to instituteforboardprep@gmail.com and we will put you in touch with a former student.

Below are some of our students’ experiences:

I'm very pleased to report that I passed Step 3 - checked my results last night.  Your method should get a lion's share of the credit.  I used it faithfully while studying post-course.You might recall that I had been away from clinical medicine for 3 and a half years. I don't think I would have passed simply drilling the material into my head.  I wish you well. Warmly, KS

"I was devastated after seeing my scores on Step II and sincerely questioned if I even had the intellectual aptitude & discipline to pass.  Thanks to Edwena & Peggy at Institute for Board Prep I gained confidence and learned the secret how to attack these questions.  Second time around I went in with a gameplan and my score jumped up 19 points.  I know that without IBP I'd still be studying for that dreaded test instead of helping people in Haiti!  I owe it all to the ladies in KC!" bc

I just wanted to say thanks for making the program good, and being supportive. And, I passed my boards!!!! My score went up one hundred points! So thanks again for helping me out, much appreciated. :D (DO student)

Just wanted to let you know that I just found out that I passed Step 2 CK!  Thanks so much for all your help and support.  My score improved by over 30points!  Thanks again for everything.  Hope all is well. jc

I have just received the greatest news of my life, I PASSED!!!!  I am a foreign medical graduate and have been struggling with Step 1 for the last 3 years of my life.  I have taken it and failed 6 times.  This was my 7th try and it came to the point of what will I do if I don't make it this time.  I couldn't imagine all the time and money I have put into going through medical school and then doing something else with my life.  I have always struggled with standardized tests until I met Peggy and Edwena.  I look at them as the keys to my success.  Believe me, I have taken all the popular review courses out there, and they did not work. To try to learn a new one was a struggle but I knew that I had nothing to loose.  It was amazing how as the weeks went by, how comfortable I started to feel.  One of the best things about this course is that you focus on doing questions.  It's not a matter of how many times you can go through your question bank but how you attack the questions.  I'm an average student who just worked hard and if I can make it, anyone can.  I raised my score by 30pts. Never give up no matter what.  I always heard these success stories and said to myself, this doesn't happen until now.  Just believe in yourself, attend their course and go into it with open thoughts and trust them because they will definetly lead to you one day writing your success story on here like me.  Thank nyou again Peggy and Edwena.  You are now part of my family!!!    N. P.    New York

I am thanking you for your support and advice throughout a challenging period of my life. I took the exam, and was successful. Two things that I carried away from this experience is the importance of preparation and confidence. Thank you again. Regards, R. TX

Thank you so much. You believed in me from the beginning and I needed that. Thank you for not giving up on me and ALWAYS checking in with me. I had you in my corner and I appreciate that. It has been such a hard and long journey that really began to make me question my academic worth but I'm so grateful that it's over and that God and you, my support system, saw me through. Thank you for becoming a mentor and a friend to me through all this. It's just great to be able to move on and pursue my career :) M. South Carolina

I just received my scores today, and I passed. I want to thank you for all you have done for me. I know that you guys went out of your way to help me out, and I want you to know that I greatly appreciate it. I wish there was something else I can say or do other than thank you. I did really well on the exam, I was able to keep my cool, and was more focused than last time, the method worked wonders!! Thank you again. Sincerely,  P. CA

I just checked my email after a couple of days. I am not sure if you received the voicemail I left you yesterday. I just wanted to thank you for all your support and guidance and let you know that I passed the exam. I know for a fact that without the course, I would not have cleared this hurdle. R. MI

I really appreciate all your advice and encouragement.  It made it a little easier when it seemed like a particular block was never going to end thinking of you saying "are you having fun yet?"  It also helped pacing myself by taking the breaks, just as you suggested, between blocks even when tempted to just go on.  Many of the questions were similar in topic to  the questions we did in the course so I felt confident throughout the day's questions. The method was my biggest helping tool. I don't know how I would have done the test without it. Thank you so much for all you did to help me get through the exam. E. Maryland.

I have great news!  I passed!  Assuming all goes well with my current ER rotation (knock on wood), I will stay on track for graduating with my class.  Thank you for all your help and advice!  Some day, hopefully I will be able to pass onto someone else all the advice and encouragement you gave me.   I trust you are doing great.  I'll keep you posted with things. M. Nebraska

The "Peggy Method" provided a rational and effective approach to learning, test-taking, and achievement that continues to pay huge dividends in my medical practice and academic medicine career.  Thank you for exceeding my expectations! L. New York

Dear future and current participants of The Institute for Board Prep.  I am writing to offer you hope and confidence in a wonderful program.  I’d like to initially offer a little bit of my own background history, certain aspects of which might seem familiar for some.  I took a Kaplan prep course for my step 1, and studied for my boards just like I had been studying for regular medical school exams.  I took the test and failed.  I made a second attempt and only improved by two points. Needless to say I was at my wit’s end, and self-doubt was running rampant through my mind.  It was at this point that the ladies from the Institute for Board Prep stepped in.  It was through their intensive work and massive dedication that I realized my knowledge base wasn’t necessarily deficient.  Rather, I didn’t have the tools to apply my knowledge base to this test.  These women worked doggedly to teach me the skills that are needed for test taking; they took my learning disability in stride and never let me think of it as a weakness.  It is through them that I learned how the process of answering a question is just as important as your knowledge base.  “The method” they teach here has without doubt become my greatest resource in answering questions.  I could say at least a hundred more things I learned from these wonderful professionals, but I will leave you with what happened to me at the end of the program. I walked into my test completely prepared and knowing that the Institute for Board Prep faculty was cheering for me all day long.  I took the test, and had so much preparation, that it didn’t really even feel like a test.  I walked out of it, having improved my score by 35 points. J. Iowa

I just came back from attending this program about a month ago, re-took Step3 (for the 3rd time), and passed. First time I failed by 9 points, second time I failed by 1 point. Institute for Board Prep is an awesome program--I improved 15 points between attempts #2 and #3. I also attended the Step2 CK program with them several years ago, and improved 30 points between the 2 times I took that exam. Basically, it's a good comprehensive review of subject matter with lots of test strategy too. That's especially important for Step3 because of the "virtual cases" on the 2nd day of the exam. The strength of their program, and what makes it different from all others, is that it's student-led. They have a list of the most high-yield topics, then you take turns looking them up and "presenting" them to the group. Helps you really learn & remember the material instead of just browsing it. Also you do LOTS of sample questions, online and from review books. The structure of the program guarantees you a minimum 9hrs/day, 6days/wk, for 2 weeks, of solid Step3 study time--the chance to focus like that is worth the price. In any case, their results can't be argued with--they have the highest pass rates for Steps1-3, and are considered the "gold standard" of board review courses. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask Peggy for my contact information and I will gladly talk to you.  Good luck. J. CA

As soon as I got back home, I called my professor who sent me to your class.  I told her how excellent my experience was with you guys.  I told her about Peggy's method and how much I enjoyed the teaching and learning from other students.  I also told her how I am completely sold on the way this class prepares the students for the boards and that I would definitely do it again when I am preparing for Step 3. I really wish that I met you much sooner than my Step 2 exam!! Thank you so much for caring for me.  I am so glad that you work there because a lot of the students that come to your program could really use a listening ear from people like you.  I am very grateful for your kindness to me.  You surely helped motivate me to take the class and I surely am glad that I did. S. Oregon

I got my score today and I passed!!! Thank you for everything. Not only have you guys been personally invested in me, but you are in every student that walks in, a fact that continually overwhelms me. I will be back for Step 3! K. MI

I wanted to let you know that I just passed my Step 2 recently. I had an improvement of 20 points. all thanks to the method and the way to taught me to approach the long lists of lab values. I'll be back for step 3!! A. Miami
